Easter Eggstravaganza

Come for an Easter train ride in a train hauled by one of our historic steam locomotives, each with its own special history. Travel through the beautiful South Tyne Valley in the North Pennines National Landscape, from Alston in Cumbria, to Slaggyford in Northumberland, in one of our heritage carriages. Enjoy the spectacular views and catch a glimpse of wildlife as you journey along our line at a leisurely pace, and of course, meet the Easter Bunny who will have a chocolate surprise for everyone aged 17 and under. There’s an Easter trail to follow around Alston station and a spotter sheet for children to keep them busy on the train. Visit the viewing gallery above our engineering workshop to find out more about the history of the railway and chat to the volunteers about our current restoration projects. Signal box tours can usually be arranged on request.
We are wheelchair accessible, dog friendly and there are refreshments available at both ends of our line, so come for a family day out where no one gets left behind!
