A new care home in Southampton has marked its opening with a host of community activities.
Care UK’s The Wickets, on Banister Road, officially opened on Monday 2nd February and is hosting its next open day on Saturday 7th February from 10am-3pm.
In the lead up to the opening, four presenters from Voice FM and two partners of Southampton’s Community radio programme were also given a taste of what life would be like at The Wickets. As part of the experience, guests spent an overnight stay at home and enjoyed a tour of the facilities, including the home’s own cinema and bar. They were also treated to a special dining menu, designed by the home’s head chef.
At the next open day, visitors will be able to take a tour around the care home, which features a hair and beauty salon, a cafe and a bar.
They will also have the opportunity to meet the team and chat to the Home Manager, Pooja Dhoot before the home officially opens.
At her previous Care UK home, Pooja’s leadership earned an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the ‘Caring’ category, alongside a ‘Good’ rating overall. As well as achieving the prestigious Care Fit for VIPS accreditation, scoring over 90% across all criteria.
Pooja will lead a highly skilled, compassionate team, delivering expert dementia care supported by Care UK’s specialist training in person-centred care, cognitive engagement, and mobility.
Pooja said: “We're excited to have opened the doors to The Wickets, and now, we want to welcome the community into our wonderful new home.
“We understand the importance of making a care home feel like home, which is why we encourage local people to visit, meet the team and learn why life in a Care UK home is special.
