A Nottingham funeral home is welcoming the local community to open up conversations about death.
The open day event, which is taking place on Thursday 26th February at 11am-1pm at Co-op Funeralcare Mapperley, on Plains Road, will give visitors the opportunity to explore their options and speak directly with funeral experts, who will be on hand to provide guidance and reassurance.
Research commissioned by Co-op Funeralcare* has revealed that 75% of those who have experienced a bereavement still haven’t made any funeral plans of their own, and 35% avoid talking about funeral arrangements altogether due to discomfort talking about death. The open day aims to make these conversations easier by offering a calm and supportive space to ask questions.
Whether it’s understanding the practical steps involved, discussing personal preferences, or simply learning more about the planning process, the open day is intended to create a safe, supportive space for these important conversations.
Jennifer Bowden, Head of Funeral Plans at Co-op Funeralcare, said: “Talking about funeral planning can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Our open day is all about helping people to start these conversations with confidence.
“Our colleagues play a vital role in the community, offering support, information, and reassurance so that people can make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
“Planning ahead can bring peace of mind by making your wishes known and helping loved ones feel confident about honouring them. Our open days are an opportunity to learn more in a welcoming environment and to start these conversations with confidence.”
