Families to get a look at rural life on a farm as popular sheep shearing show comes to Staffordshire.
The Sheep Show will be at the National Forest Adventure Farm this month bringing traditional skills, behind the scenes shearing and dancing sheep in a one of a kind ‘sheep shuffle’.
Part of a host of farming activities from Monday 30th March to Friday 10th April, it will also mark the return of Lambing Live at the Postern Road, Tatenhill site, with over 240 ewes due to give birth during the event.
Each year sheep shearers produce around 22,000 tonnes of wool in the UK with each sheep shearer completing between 200 and 400 sheep a day.
The Sheep Show is a fun look at the traditional practice and will give families a chance to get a behind the scenes look at how nine breeds prepare for the warmer months.
Part of Easter Eggstravaganza, it is also the only time that the farm’s woodland area, which was created in 2002 as part of its commitment to the National Forest, is available to the public.
Each year it is opened in Spring to allow guests the chance to wander the woodland trail in search of the Easter Bunny’s home nestled within the 28,000 trees planted on the site.
The Lambing Live Tent will also be open after seeing two sets of rare quads born during February Half Term with hundreds more ewes due to bring new arrivals to the farm.
With the 24hour ‘Ewe’ Tube channel returning guests will be able to visit the tent and possibly even see a Spring lamb being born.
Admission includes access to the outdoor adventure play area, the UK’s longest Mega Slide, animal display areas, barrel stampede ride, meet and feed animal areas, outdoor go-karts, guinea pig petting, jumping pillows, JCB big dig zone, musical maze, Jurassic sand play and fossil dig and mini quad bikes.
