This Summer, join The Proteans as they present a selection of stories from Geoffrey Chaucer’s most famous and celebrated works, The Canterbury Tales, told by a merry band of travellers as they pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Thomas Becket in Canterbury.
To pass the time as they travel the long road on foot, the pilgrims engage in a storytelling contest; featuring a bawdy cast of Parsons, Nuns, Knights, Cooks, Clerks, Merchants, Squires and Monks, The Proteans retell some of the most amusing tales (there are over 40 to choose from!) and give them their trademark ‘Proteans treatment!’
Pack a picnic and join us in the Walled Garden for a great afternoon of classic theatre and (hopefully) great British sunshine!!!
The Proteans always bring a unique twist to their popular performances of classic plays, from a Bowie-inspired Ariel in their most recent production of The Tempest, to an operatic interval during The Importance of Being Earnest !
Expect plenty of irreverent fun, silly songs, crazy costumes and the perfect setting for a summer evening with friends.
