A care home in York is opening its doors to the local community for a fur-bulous event.
On Thursday 26th March from 10.30am to 1.30pm, Care UK’s Chocolate Works is inviting the public to learn about animal welfare during a fun-filled event complete with food, games and plenty of furry friends.
Guests can look forward to relaxing in the Bishopthorpe Road home's lounge as a mobile petting zoo arrives with a selection of animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice and chickens.
Everyone will have the chance to pet the creatures while learning about their diets, habits and how to care for them responsibly.
Following the visit, the home’s head chef will lead an animal themed biscuit-making workshop, before everyone tucks into a buffet lunch featuring a selection of themed treats such as chocolate nest buns topped with mini chocolate eggs.
Judy Wray, Home Manager at Chocolate Works, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming everyone to our animal event. Community connections mean a lot to us here at Chocolate Works, and what better way to bring everyone together than with a celebration?
“The residents have been sharing stories about their childhood pets and visits to zoos. There’s a real buzz in the air and everyone’s looking forward to welcoming the community and some four-legged friends to the home.”
