Shirley House Interfaith Centre

Our May 2026 meeting is all about ‘Plants in my Faith’. Are there plants that have a special symbolism in your tradition? How do plants feature in your stories, beliefs or meetings? Are certain plants used for decoration, food, or to represent seasons? Or is respect for wild plants the most important aspect? Refreshments included. Everyone welcome, of all faiths or none.

The vision of Shirley House Interfaith Centre is to be a place for dialogue, friendship and mutual understanding, in recognition of our common humanity and in celebration of the wonderfully diverse faith communities of Sheffield. By meeting in a spirit of mutual respect, we hope to learn about one another’s faiths and beliefs and thereby to deepen our understanding of our own.
To achieve this we hold open meetings approximately once a month, which include talks, social events, discussion groups, ‘show and tell’ presentations, film shows and ALWAYS INCLUDE REFRESHMENTS. Our regular attenders are from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Pagan and Humanist traditions but we welcome anyone from any, or no, faith background. We also try to include speakers from faiths that represent a minority culture within in Sheffield.
