Webern Langsamer-Satz
Schubert Quartet in G, D887
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of chamber music as the we present three important works that span more than a century of quartet writing.
Haydn’s String Quartet in F minor, Op. 20 No. 5 shows the composer at his most innovative, from its dramatic opening to a brilliant fugal finale.
Next in the programme is Webern's Langsamer Satz, a single movement work full of intense romantic longing, written before he developed his more modernist style.
The concert concludes with Franz Schubert’s String Quartet in G major, D887, one of the great quartet masterpieces of the nineteenth century. Vast in scale and full of contrasts.
