A Hailsham care home is opening its doors to the community to commemorate a special anniversary.
On Saturday 6th June, from 3.30pm-5pm, Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, is welcoming local people to mark 82 years since D-Day.
On the day, there will be live entertainment from the D Day Dollies, who will perform a selection of vintage tunes to get everyone dancing and celebrating the spirit of the 1940’s all dressed in authentic 1940s costumes!
Guests will also be treated to delicious food and refreshments specially made by the home’s talented head chef, including tea and cake.
Resident Bernard Wilson, 96, said: “It’s so important to remember all those who gave their lives during this historic day which proved that Europe working together could ultimately lead to winning World War II.”
Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. Reservations can be made by contacting the Customer Relations Manager, Lisa Phillips by 5pm on Thursday 4th June.
Lisa said: “At Bowes House, we’re passionate about playing an active role in the local community, so we’re delighted to open our doors as we mark the 82nd anniversary of D-Day.
“Reminiscence activities are a wonderful opportunity for older people, including those living with dementia, to connect with others and maintain a strong sense of identity. In the lead-up to the event, residents have been sharing their personal stories and memories, and it’s been incredibly special to hear their experiences and understand what makes D-Day such a meaningful event to them.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces for what will be a heartfelt and memorable afternoon.”
