Looking for something a little different this summer? Eden Camp Modern History Museum in Malton is bringing history to life with a brilliant programme of family activities running 17 July to 31 August 2026.
Little ones can get hands-on at the Little Evacuees Workshop (free, Mon–Fri, booking required), making their own cardboard gas mask, learning about wartime rationing, and discovering the incredible women who kept Britain going. Every child goes home with their gas mask and a wartime identity tag — a proper keepsake!
Budding detectives will love the Poo Clues Trail, hunting animal droppings around the museum to collect letters and crack the secret wartime word. There's even a sweet treat at the end!
On select days, children can try the Cow Milking Experience and hear stories from Women's Land Army life on a wartime farm — surprisingly brilliant fun.
Round off your summer with the Living History Weekend on 29–30 August, where reenactors, a Sherman Tank, wartime recipes, and live music make for an unforgettable family day out. Fancy dress in 40s style is very much encouraged!
All activities are included with general admission. A genuinely memorable day out for the whole family.
