Free workshops arrive at Meadowhall for the summer holidays
Families heading to Meadowhall over the summer holidays can enjoy a programme of free creative workshops at the centre, as part of the Pride of Yorkshire trail.
From this weekend onwards, the Pride of Yorkshire pop-up space on the Upper Avenue will host a series of sessions led by the trail's artists, giving families the chance to learn from some of the best in the region.
The free workshops begin on Saturday (25th July), with two of the artists joining the pop-up in person. Vicky Scott and Emma Barnsley will both be bringing a selection of their prints and will be on hand throughout the day from 10am until 5pm to chat to fans about their art and their journey into the artistic world.
Meanwhile, next week families will have the chance to take part in a free collage workshop inspired by Mary Tear’s 'Colours Of' print series, with visitors able to meet the artist, browse her work and find out more about her Pride of Yorkshire sculpture on the trail. Suitable for ages 4 and over.
Other workshops during the summer holidays include:
• Saturday 1 August, 10am–5pm – Pride of Yorkshire Day Makers Market - Yorkshire makers and artists take over the pop-up for the day, with a portion of all sales donated to Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.
• Saturday 8 August – Millstones & Moor Pop-Up - Artist Rob Godley, known as Millstones & Moor, will host a pop-up of his Peaks-inspired artworks and will be live-painting a miniature lion on the day. Free to attend. Timings to be confirmed – visit prideofyorkshire.org/events for updates.
All workshops are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no booking required. The Pride of Yorkshire pop-up is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, throughout July and August, and stocks the full range of official Pride of Yorkshire merchandise.
