Bobby on the Beat: Sheffield's Last Police Box

Heritage Open Day: Explore Sheffield's last surviving police box and our pop-up museum about the city's policing history. Discover original objects, stories of the people behind the uniform, and historic police vehicles from the National Emergency Services Museum. Sheffield's very own National Emergency Services Museum is taking its collection out into the city centre with a special pop-up museum beside the last surviving Police Box on Surrey Street, next to the Town Hall.

Once one of around 120 police boxes serving the city, this is the only survivor of a network that helped officers stay connected long before radios and mobile phones. From reporting incidents to contacting stations and assisting the public, police boxes played an important role in keeping Sheffield safe.
