Heritage Open Day: Visit Guildford Castle Keep for free and discover the history of this Norman castle. Climb to the top of the Great Tower for stunning views, complete fun activities, and talk with knowledgeable stewards about the history of this great building. Built shortly after the Norman invasion of England in 1066, Guildford Castle is surrounded by vibrant gardens, and is thought to have been built by William the Conqueror, or one of his barons.
Visit for free on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September to learn about the Castle's rich history in the exhibition on the ground floor. Get creative and have fun with our 'Shield's Up!' activity, then climb the stairs to the top of the keep to see stunning panoramic views across Guildford.
