Heritage Open Day: St. Katherine's is a Norman, Grade 1 listed church, located in the manorial conservation area of Old Teversal Village. We will be opening our doors to heritage events over the weekend of 18th-20th September 2026. Betjeman once described Teversal Village as a 'rural oasis' in the former 'coal producing area on the Notts - Derby border'. As part of our weekend celebrating the rich history of the area, there will be guided walks around the local area, to explore its rich heritage.
This walk takes in many points of interest, including the outskirts of the Manor, where Virginia Woolf spent time in August 1904. Aubrey Herbert, the son of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find Tuthankahmun's tomb, also spent time here.
