St Michael & All Angels Church, Macclesfield

Heritage Open Day: Town Centre Church, mainly Victorian with 15th century chapels and remnants of the earlier foundation in 1278. Heritage textiles on view, and bellringing demonstration. Trail leaflets, audio trail. Cafe open. Zipwire from the tower for teddy! You have to hunt to discover evidence of the mediaeval church of All Saints (now St Michael’s), but there is some to be found. The Savage Chapel dates from 1504 and holds a fine collection of alabaster memorials. The main part of our building, and its amazing stained glass windows, were funded by wealth from the silk industry in the early 20th century.
