Darley Dale station bridging the past
Heritage Open Day: Station open 19th-20th September to see work on reinstallation of footbridge, exhibition on the history of the station, the staff who worked there and local people who used it. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions. By September we hope most of the work to reinstall the impressive two way footbridge will be complete. The station will be open from 10am to 4pm on 19th and 20th September for visitors to see progress on the footbridge. The footbridge was installed in 1911 and remained in use until the line closed in 1968. It had a double staircase one side was used by pedestrians, the other to cross from one platform to the other. It was bought by Derby City Council in the 1970s and stored at a museum at Butterley.
