Heritage Open Day: Help us find a new future for Hadley Cemetery Chapel.
Come and see inside, learn about its history, then share your ideas.
Create crafts inspired by our stained glass, and then take a self-guided heritage walk to nearby Holy Trinity Church. Hadley Cemetery Chapel has been closed for many years - now we are exploring ideas for a bright new future as a community venue.
Conceived and built by the then Hadley Parish Council, Hadley Cemetery, Chapel and Lodge were opened in 1903. Plans for the new cemetery in Hadley began in 1902 when a loan of £2500 was approved to fund the work, much needed because Holy Trinity churchyard was almost full.
The cemetery opened officially on 25 March 1903.
