Heritage Open Day: Hooton Park Trust will be opening the Grade II* WW1 hangars at the former RAF Hooton Park airfield as part of the Heritage Open Days 2026.
See historic aircraft in an original setting, many exhibits having a direct link to Hooton's history. Hooton Park Trust will be opening the Grade II* WW1 hangars at the former RAF Hooton Park airfield as part of the Heritage Open Days 2026.
The site was originally part of the Hooton Park Estate, home of the Stanley family, with a grand hall, parkland and racecourse before being requisitioned for initially military use and then in 1917 as an airfield training pilots for the Western Front. The history of the site will be explained from its origins to the present day through an audio visual presentation.
