Plas Newydd 'Porch Warming'
Plas Newydd House and Garden will be open the weekend of the 18th and 19th October to mark the bi-centenary of the Ladies’ ‘Porch Warming’ in 1814 when Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby celebrated the completion of their project to Gothicise the house with carvings. The Ladies’ declared that they were, ‘seized with the Oak Carving mania,’ and would welcome any gifts of oak carving to adorn their house.
