Price: £25 (Includes admission to the centre) WWT London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth Walk, Barnes SW13 9WT 19 July Join Queer Ecologist Connor Butler for a hands-on cyanotype printmaking workshop that celebrates the diversity of nature through art. Developed in the 1840s, cyanotype is a photographic process that uses sunlight to create striking blue-and-white botanical prints. By arranging pressed plants onto light-sensitive paper, you’ll craft your own unique artworks to take home. As we create, we’ll explore the fascinating world of plants that challenge traditional categories—sex-changing trees, non-binary flowers, and species that defy rigid life cycles. You’ll learn how these plants have been used as symbols within the LGBTQ+ community and uncover their deep-rooted queer connections in science, culture, and mythology. This workshop blends storytelling, ecology, and creativity, offering a fresh perspective on the natural world. No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and an open mind! Meeting place: Courtyard Pagoda Bio: Connor the Ecologist is a London-based entomologist and educator on a mission to make people notice and appreciate the smaller details in nature. His current work focuses on Queer Ecology, challenging traditional ideas about what is considered “natural” or “unnatural”.
