Join Queer Ecologist Connor Butler for a hands-on cyanotype printmaking workshop that celebrates the diversity of nature through art.
Developed in the 1840s, cyanotype is a photographic process that uses sunlight to create striking blue-and-white botanical prints. By arranging pressed plants onto light-sensitive paper, you’ll craft your own unique artworks to take home.
As we create, we’ll explore the fascinating world of plants that challenge traditional categories—sex-changing trees, non-binary flowers, and species that defy rigid life cycles. You’ll learn how these plants have been used as symbols within the LGBTQ+ community and uncover their deep-rooted queer connections in science, culture, and mythology.
This workshop blends storytelling, ecology, and creativity, offering a fresh perspective on the natural world. No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and an open mind!

Connor the Ecologist is a London-based entomologist and educator on a mission to make people notice and appreciate the smaller details in nature. His current work focuses on Queer Ecology, challenging traditional ideas about what is considered “natural” or “unnatural”. He has had over 1,000 people join his Queer Ecology tours and workshops to date, celebrating nature in all its diversity.
