Heritage Open Day: Christ Church is a fine example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Its interior includes carvings and artwork by notable religious artists of the 19th and 20th century. Christ Church is Grade II* listed and was consecrated in 1861. It has a distinctive spire with projecting grotesques which give it a forbidding appearance, however once inside, the interior surprises and delights the visitor with its blend of space and light. The church contains several features of interest for a visitor which includes a World War I memorial stained glass window, reredos by Charles Edgar Buckeridge (the esteemed Victorian religious painter) and Christ the King figure.
