Design a Roman Mosaic Tile

Sandy Library, Market Square, Sandy SG19 1EH Heritage Open Day: On Saturday 13 September at 10.00 am children will be welcomed to Sandy Library to design and make a Roman tile to take home. Sandy Library, based in the Market Square, will be hosting an exciting craft event for children from 1000. Twenty-four children will be welcomed to view a display of colourful Roman tiles as inspiration for a design of their own. Using a paper grid, they will be able to lay out lots of different colourful designs. Once a decision has been made regarding a design, materials consisting of one large white tile and lots of smaller colourful tiles (tesserae) will be made available for the children to use.
