Design a Roman Mosaic Tile
Heritage Open Day: On Saturday 13 September at 10.00 am children will be welcomed to Sandy Library to design and make a Roman tile to take home. Sandy Library, based in the Market Square, will be hosting an exciting craft event for children from 1000.
Twenty-four children will be welcomed to view a display of colourful Roman tiles as inspiration for a design of their own. Using a paper grid, they will be able to lay out lots of different colourful designs. Once a decision has been made regarding a design, materials consisting of one large white tile and lots of smaller colourful tiles (tesserae) will be made available for the children to use. Once the tile is complete, they may take it home. Free car parking is available off the High Street in the public car park. Toilets are available in the library.
