’Gaodhal’s Vision’ - from Egypt to Éire
Joe O’Donnell is a fiery and innovative Irish violinist and composer living in Coventry. He worked with bands such as East of Eden, Thin Lizzie, The Woods Band and Headstone. In 1977 Joe's first album Gaodhal’s Vision came out to critical acclaim. It featured top musicians of the day including guitar superstar Rory Gallagher. It describes the journey of the Milesian people from Egypt to Éire where they settled.
To mark the 40th anniversary of Gaodhal's Vision's release, it will be performed in its entirety. Joe’s band Shkayla will be joined by guest musicians Aiden O'Brien (Uilleann Pipes) and Ben Haines (percussion). Indian Fusion dancers Sabrina and Alysha will perform with the McHugh Irish Dancers. Joe is remixing the orchestral arrangements to synch with the performance which will also showcase Rory Gallagher’s original four solos from the album.
