Here’s how to get a free yoga class in Coventry
A world-class sports and fitness facility wants locals in Coventry and Warwickshire to fold forward as the clocks are set to go back.
To mark Stress Awareness Week, the Sports and Wellness Hub, on the University of Warwick campus, is inviting locals to shake off the autumn blues and make the most out of the extra hour by giving yoga a go – all for free.
Autumn has long been linked with increased anxiety as the nights grow longer and the temperatures begin to drop, making it the perfect time to try the spiritual class.
In addition to its physical benefits, yoga is known to encourage relaxation as well as help participants manage stress by promoting mindfulness – making it the perfect activity to ease into November.
The free classes will be held on Wednesday 3rd November, from 7pm-8pm, and Thursday 4th November, 7am-8am, to enable busy professionals to attend.
Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities at the Sports and Wellness Hub, said: “Needless to say, the past year and a half have been challenging. As the clocks are set to go back and the nights draw in, this time of year can be especially difficult from a mental health perspective.
“Yoga is one of the most accessible forms of exercise out there. It’s a gentle way to improve strength, balance and flexibility all while promoting self-care and self-love. For many, it’s a chance to centre themselves and recharge – so we wanted locals to make the most out of their extra hour by spending it with our team of professional instructors.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming people of all age and abilities to our world-class facilities and give them the opportunity to try something different this November.”
