Mid Century Mastery - Edward Hellawell
Experience this fine retrospective exhibition of a wonderful artist who was Head of Nuneaton school of Art 1952-1966.
Over a period of more than 50 years, Edward Hellawell was a painter, sculptor, graphic designer, and teacher. He also created the Liliput Marionette Theatre. This exhibition will share just some of the work he created. Most date from the 1950s to the 1970s and is typical of that time in British Art. The Art School was housed in the current museum building so it is particularly fitting that his work is being shown at this location.
This exhibition has been assembled by his daughter Caroline working with the team at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery. It is a unique opportunity to see works not exhibited for forty years. The works include oil painting, drawing and sculpture.

“It’s always good to celebrate Nuneaton’s artistic past and it is wonderful that these works will be seen together for the first time in many years back at the location where Edward Hellawell made such a contribution to nurturing and guiding local artistic talent.”
