Badly Drawn Boy
Indie singer-songwriter and 2000 Mercury Prize winner, Badly Drawn Boy (Damon Michael Gough) comes to Kendal following his 2020 album Banana Skin Shoes. This multi-instrumentalist is well known for scoring the acclaimed soundtrack to the film adaption of Nick Hornby’s About a Boy, and has since built up a cult following through frequent touring and popular singles like You Were Right.
Following the success of his early EPs, Badly Drawn Boy’s first album, The Hour of Bewilderbeast, was released in June 2000, accompanied by four singles (including a re-release of Once Around the Block).
His latest album, Banana Skin Shoes, was met with “universal acclaim” reviews from critics. Gouch called the song “a sound collage of chaos and confusion to reflect the ridiculous times we live in… A deliberately cartoonesque sonic poke in the eye, to those in whom we place trust, yet instead supply constant barrage of misinformation followed by bad decisions.”
