PP Arnold plus special guest LEI HOPE - Words & Music Festival

P.P. Arnold is an American born soul singer who relocated to the UK in the 1960s.

By that point she was already known as a member of The Ikettes, Tina Turners’ backing group, but Arnold quickly established herself as a solo artist, releasing top 10 hits including “The First Cut Is The Deepest” and “Angel Of The Morning”.

Counting Mick Jagger among her early friends and supporters she signed a management deal with Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham and continued her chart success, also singing on 2 Small Faces classics “Tin Soldier” and “Itchycoo Park”.

Her amazing career has seen her perform on the original “Jesus Christ Superstar ” album and tour with Humble Pie and Eric Clapton.

She re-entered the UK charts with “Respect Yourself” in 1983, then sang backing vocals on Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” and went on to be the featured vocalist on hits by Beatmasters and KLF.

Her autobiography “Soul Survivor” is published in 2023 and tells her extraordinary story, including her experiences as a young black artist working through her early years in an exclusively white environment.
