Cherry Tree Arboretum - Open Garden for NGS

Created in 2006 on 50 acres of unspoilt, lightly-farmed pastureland scattered with mature oaks by John and Liz Ravenscroft. The garden is located on a hilly area overlooking the Cheshire plain with views to the Pennines in the north, the Peckforton Hills to the northwest and the Breiddons to the southwest on the Welsh borders. It is a showcase of specimen trees with magnolias, peonies, dahlias, lilacs, deciduous azaleas and North American oaks throughout. Most notable in April is a double avenue of white Magnolias in many varieties descending to the horizon. The earliest of the cherries will also be opening. A series of trails and paths run between meadows and native wildflowers in the arboretum. Many of the trees are rare and unusual.
