Members and Visitors are welcome at our meeting when the Potty Plotters will entertain us with their chat, ideas, recommendations and fun on Wednesday 25th February starting at 2.15 pm.
Elaine and Julia have an allotment on the outskirts of Derby where they dig, sow, grow, harvest, repeat, all year around. In fact, they reckon if you cannot eat or drink it then it is not worth growing. As the Potty Plotters, they have a regular gardening spot on radio Derby and Stoke when they entertain listeners with their Allotment Antics.
Elaine grew up in a large family where her father had an allotment, there she learned a lot about gardening and growing vegetables. Eventually she took on her own allotment putting into action her lifelong skills of a relaxing pastime with a fruitful ending. Julia came to allotments later in life – it was when the potatoes started to take over the flower borders at home that she decided to take on an allotment. She also found that having an allotment was a good thing for mental health, where she can either disappear into her own world or socialise with her many friends there, either way she is being productive.
Between them they are the innovators of recycling, with nothing wasted - you will be able to pick up ideas of how to reuse items destined for the bin.
This is also our AGM which will only take 30 minutes at the most, we will also be holding a raffle with special flower orientated prizes and be announcing the winner of our Christmas Quiz.
