We will be bringing in the New Year in with a reminder of times past with Kathleen Russell and her flower arranging demonstration depicting “A Floral Scrapbook”. A NAFAS qualified Area Demonstrator, Kathleen lives in a village on the Wirral, Cheshire, and is coming to Stafford on Wednesday 28th January 2026.
Many people know that flowers have particular meanings but it was the Victorians that started to send each other bouquets with hidden or secret messages, roses depicting love, bluebells for loyalty, poppy for remembrance, sunflowers for happiness whilst the snowdrop for new beginnings.
Come and enjoy the thoughts of Kathleen’s scrapbook as she tells us her stories while she arranges her flowers, explaining why she has chosen certain flowers and the story behind them.
The arrangements created during the afternoon will be our raffle prizes which will be drawn at the end of our meeting. If you are lucky and your number comes up then you will have the choice of one of the arrangements.
SFC Christmas Quiz will be for sale for only £1.00, if you get all the answers correct, you could be the winner of a £10 bonus. If that doesn’t appeal to you then we will also be having our popular jigsaw Bring and Buy stall, when you can pick up a bargain puzzle to help you while away the darker evenings.
Please come and enjoy a afternoon bringing friendship and flowers together with light refreshments, meet up with friends and catch up with what they have been up to over the festive season.
Members, friends and visitors are always welcome, Visitors: £8 including an afternoon of floral entertainment & light seasonal refreshments.
We meet at Rising Brook Methodist Church, ST17 9DH starting at 2.15 pm. There are lots of parking spaces and we are on a regular bus route.
