Summer Solstice Sunset Hike to Wansfell Pike, Lake District – 20th Jun

Looking down on the bustling Lakeland town of Ambleside is the shapely mountain of Wansfell Pike. We will meet in Ambleside at 8pm for a short briefing before setting off up the steep, but well travelled footpath leading directly to the summit. The pace set will be leisurely so a few rests can be enjoyed along the way, allowing us to soak up the views to Loughrigg and over to the Fairfield and Red Screes mountains.

We aim to arrive at the summit (482m) by around 9.15/9.30pm which is in good time for sunset. Views from the summit are magnificent, with all of Windermere on show as well as so much of the Lake District and as far as the Yorkshire Dales.

We will start our descent back to Ambleside at around 10.30pm and aim to be back in the town by 11.30pm.
