This year is the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, which is widely regarded as the birth of modern railways.
Our 'Rail 200' Gala celebrates this key milestone with an intensive timetable of passenger trains and demonstration freight trains pulled by a mix of steam and heritage diesel locos.
SPECIAL GUEST - visiting our railway for this event is Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST No.1969 ‘JN Derbyshire’ (in bright purple livery!).
The event will feature:
*two steam locos and two class 31 diesel locos (swapping between duties)
*passenger trains
*iron ore tippler wagon train
*recently repainted ballast hopper wagon train
Free on-site parking. Platform cafe and souvenir shop open.
Toilets and baby changing facilities available.
