St John's is 175 years old
Heritage Open Day: St John the Baptist Church in Heaton Mersey is celebrating 175 years this year. Help us to celebrate the opening of the church in 1850. The church stands in an unusual circular church yard which is a peaceful haven to visit.
There will be displays of the church in the past and present day memories including a display of wedding dresses and photographs of church and village events.
The grave of the first Bishop of Manchester, James Prince Lee, is in the churchyard and during our heritage weekend a Blue Plaque will be unveiled .
