Our forthcoming concert on 4th July at St Bartholomew's Church, Wilmslow, at 7.30pm will be a real treat. Puccini’s Messa di Gloria combines operatic energy and dramatic melodies, with soloists, chorus and the music interacting vividly, creating both grandeur and intimacy. Although forgotten for many years after its premiere, the composition was rediscovered in the twentieth century and is now admired for revealing Puccini’s youthful talent and remarkable musical imagination to audiences.
“Gypsy Songs,” by Brahms, is a lively vocal song cycle reflecting Brahms’s fascination with Hungarian folk music and Romani-inspired melodies. The songs combine energetic rhythms, expressive harmonies, and emotional contrasts between joy, love, longing, and melancholy. This concert is perfect for a summer evening.
