After their sold-out performance two years ago, the Royal Academy of Music Harp Ensemble returns to PMF on Wednesday lunchtime 10th June, by popular request, in Dancing with Harps – Part 2! As well as arrangements of Tchaikovsky Swan Lake, Lecuona Malaguena & Ponchielli Dance of the Hours, they feature works written for them: Richard Bissill Three Dance Sketches; Christopher Gunning Beach Scenes; Bruce Broughton Dancing for Love, Dancing for the Gods; & Paul Patterson Avian Arabesques.
The Royal Academy Harp Ensemble was formed in 1993 by Professor Skaila Kanga to give students opportunities to perform in a harp orchestra with newly commissioned works. To date they have commissioned over 40 new works. The success of the ensemble has been highlighted by performances at the Academy and at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Mansion House, Senate House, King’s Place, St Martin in the Fields, as well as well as further afield in Bury St Edmunds', and Grove Park festivals, World Harp Congress Cardiff, Holywell & Salvi Showrooms. This concert will feature students from all years from across the world.
