Beeley project 1840-`1820's

Heritage Open Day: Beeley houses and their occupants in the 1840's -1820s Beeley Project : 1840s – 2020s
In the 1840s, The 6th Duke of Devonshire, who was the Lord of the Manor of Beeley, commissioned a survey of his property in the village. This survey took well in excess of 10 years to complete, and resulted in a map of the village showing the properties, along with plans and line drawing elevations of each individual building. In addition to this he had a book prepared with the name of each householder and details of them and their families.
In the early 1990s I came into possession of a battered copy of the map, and later, courtesy of the Peak Park Planners, a set of poor copies of the surveyed properties.
