Schools of Skipton Guided Walk

Heritage Open Day: Skipton has numerous old school buildings from the 1600s onwards and this tour will visit a selection of these with some stories about the buildings and those connected to them. The tour will look at old school buildings with a brief introduction to some people connected to them, from the better-known such as Canon Ermysted and Rudyard Kipling to some lesser known, such as an archbishop of Canterbury's wife and the ancestor of Ernest Shackleton. The walk will include 6 former schools along Otley Street, the old grammar school and 4 former schools in Newmarket Street.
