De Beauvoir Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Six gardens to explore in De Beauvoir, a leafy enclave of Victorian villas near to Islington and Dalston. The area boasts some of Hackneys keenest gardeners and a thriving gardening club. New this year is 66 Southgate Road a chic and contemporary professionally designed town garden, as is 10 Ufton Grove which also has an abundance of water features, carp pond and interesting sculptures. Also new is 82B Mortimer Road, which features a large lawn surrounded by mature borders with olive trees, a weeping willow, and camellias. 21 Northchurch Terrace is a walled garden with a formal pond and deep borders which have recently been replanted. 100 Downham Road features two green roofs, a pond with a miniature Giverny style bridge and cosy seating areas giving different viewpoints.
