Celebrate the first signs of summer with the Beltane Fire Society. Our thirtieth reimagining of the ancient Celtic festival of Beltane will mark the changing seasons with a wild mix of drums, fire and physical theatre on a scale not seen anywhere else in the world. Beltane Fire Festival has a reputation for being Edinburgh’s most spectacular local festival, and is presented as investigative theatre with few barriers between audience performers offering a chance for a truly immersive experience. Amongst a cavalcade of characters, the May Queen leads her court around the hill, the Green Man is stripped of his winter guise, and the Beltane bonfire is lit. Set on Calton Hill, overlooking the city of Edinburgh, it is a wild and joyful celebration of the arrival of summer.
