Pangbourne Twinning Association French Film Night - 'Cezanne et Moi'
Cézanne et moi (Cézanne and me) (2016)
A film by Danièle Thompson.
A stunning tale of friendship, love and envy.
Paul Cézanne and Émile Zola became friends as boys, sharing their hopes, dreams, curiosity and doubts.
One rich, one poor, they left for Paris where they quickly became enveloped by the art scene of Montmartre in the 1860s.
As their careers took different paths, Cézanne as a struggling painter, and Zola as a successful and famous writer, their friendship, philosophies and lives were pushed to the boundaries of everything they knew.
The film stars Guillaume Canet and Guillaume Gallienne.
Duration 109 minutes, in French with English subtitles.
Contains strong language, nudity and sex references.
BBFC classification 15.
