St Saviour's Church, High Green

Heritage Open Day: A chance to explore this fascinating 150 year old Grade II listed church, built in memory of engineer Parkin Jeffcock, killed along with 360 others in the 1866 Oaks Colliery explosion, to this day the worst mining disaster in England. Discover specific features, such as the stained glass windows, especially the Chancel windows which depict Jesus above Meeshack, Shadrack and Abendigo, all enveloped in flames from the explosion.
